Tradition

Once upon a time ...

The beginnings go as far back as into 18th century, when the family Freund made a living in the famous Solingen area from making cutlery and sharpening knives. After worldwar I, Walter Freund rusticated from the destroyed Wuppertal to Paderborn. There he settled 1921 as metal worker and in 1928 he registered his workshop. The first company for butcher-tools and services came into being.

Early production included motorised grindstones, various cast and moulded products as well as knives - one of the first large orders was for 200 daggers for use in the former German colony South West Africa. After the end of second world war his son Reinhard Freund started to manufacture gearboxes, which then were used for the production of the first electrically driven rib saws at the beginning of the Fifties.

Further stages were:
  • 1962: The very successful rib saw "record 62"
  • 1965: relocation to the present larger premises
  • 1966: Manfred Syré joins the company
  • 1970: The first K18-01 circular breaking saw
  • 1973: 3-phase-circular saws in protection mode IP 65
  • 1977: Reciprocating saws
  • 1979: The first computer numerical controlled machine
  • 1981: Further production and warehouse facilities
  • 1983: Hardmetal tipped blades
  • 1984: Reinhard's son Robert Freund joins the company
  • 1985: Computer aided production planning control
  • 1986: 3-phase reciprocating saws
  • 1988: Bandsaw splitters
  • 1991: Circular cutting knives
  • 1992: CAD/CAM for design team
    Automatic cleaning and sterilization systems
  • 1993: New office building
  • 1997: Vacuum systems

as well as many other products and numerous patents.
